If you've ever browsed my website you'll notice I've changed the way the catalog is laid out.  I used to have separate listings for different musical genres.  The problem I kept running into was that lots of music simply doesn't fit into one particular category, forcing me to slap it into a label that wasn't very appropriate.  I also felt I was doing people a disservice by steering them into one narrow musical stovepipe (yes, I was adding to the dreaded Clear Channel syndrome - let's force feed the audience one narrow type of music).  I've decided to go for a much simpler cataloging approach - alphabetical.  Regardless of musical genre, everything is now listed alphabetically.  I've also added a separate category for new listings (things added over the last 30 days).

A couple of other comments about the catalog structure.  To get additional information on an LP including a list of  band members, related groups, a brief review and track listing, simply click on the artist link.

With respect to the reviews, how's that old saying go?  "Opinions are like as*holes.  Everyone has one."  Record reviews are clearly similar, with the added caveat that most reviewers can't play a musical note to save their lives (I'll readily admit that's my situation).  That said, take all of my reviews with a grain of salt. That hasn't stopped a number of band members from dumping all over me for poor reviews of their work. The reviews are done for fun and out of love for this music.  They represent my opinions at a particular point in time and are liable to change with time and differ from what other folks think.  The one thing I can say with a straight face is that I've tried to be honest with my comments.  Most of these records are for sale and unlike a lot of dealers, I've made no effort to hype stuff just to sell it.  Accordingly you'll find some high priced items with crappy reviews and some low cost albums with glowing reviews.  Honesty is clearly the best policy and just because I don't like a particular album doesn't mean it won't strike a chord with someone else. Above all remember that rarity doesn't mean it's necessarily good.  It may be rare for the simple fact that it sucks!

  Changes:

  2011

- 01 January 2011 - updated introduction to listing of Hans Pokora  Record Collector Dream LPs I have for sale.

- 24 January 2011 - started to increase album cover file sizes from 100 x 100 to 144 x 144.  Not a gigantic change, but should still make it easier to see what an album cover looks like.

  2012

- 21 March 2012 - finally go around to listing part of the more common LPs available for purchase.  9,500 items uploaded to GEMM and Musicstack.

- Sign of my age; began uploading materials in a size 12 font to improve legibility.

  2014

- My 11 year old showed one of his friends my website and I was given a list of suggested changes, including losing the blue underscores - changing everything over to white.

- 12 December 2014 - I simply don't have the time to listen to, write, and post reviews for most of the LPs that are for sale on the BadCatRecords website.  Up until this point, with a couple of rare exceptions, unless I'd written a review, I notmally would not  bother to post the item for sale on my website, rather simply listed them online under my Amazon, GEMM, MusicStack, and LP Market accounts.  Starting in December, 2014 I'll list all new offerings here as well.
