Formed in El Campo, Texas (they quickly relocated to Houston), this five piece (listed as Freddy, Wayne, Elton, Kenneth and George), spent six years playing the Texas club circuit before scoring a recording contract with the small Houston-based Golden Eagle label.

Produced by Charlie Booth (the liner notes claim the album was recorded live), "The 13th Song" offered up a classic example of mid-1960s garage rock. An enthusiastic, if occasionally sloppy mixture of well and lesser known covers, the results were surprisingly engaging. While the entire album was worth hearing, the band showed particular skill at blue-eyed soul covers.  Not to be missed were covers of Otis Redding's 'Mr. Pitiful' and (complete with goofy spoken interlude), Wilson Pickett's 'I Found a Love'. Other highlights included a cover of Ed Cobb's 'Good Guys Don't Wear White', 'Muscle Bound Man', an organ propelled 'Little Latin Lupe Lu' and their 'Devil with the Blue Dress/Good Golly Miss Molly' medley.  Always loved the high price artwork. Nice matching silk shirts guys.  Believe it or not, it's an album I've burned on CD and play time after time ...
