This anonymous studio set is known for a couple of reasons - it was sold through an add in the back of Rolling Stone magazine and it was used as the soundtrack to Richard Lacey's X-rated sex documentary "Erotica".

Musically  1970's "Love Is a Heart-On" wasn't anything spectacular.  There were no songwriting or performance credits, though sporting song titles such as 'The Hooker', 'F*ck Me Forever', 'F*ckin' a Dream' and 'Fingers, Vibrators, Dildoes and Dreams' the set was somewhat unique in that it was probably best categorized under a subgenre like porn-psych. At least three anonymous singers - two guys; one who was okay; one less so and a nameless woman who was out of tune on the three tracks she handled ('Column of Flowing Honey' is liable to make some folks gag).  While in 1972 this may have been exceedingly controversial, today you can easily find video games that effortlessly put this to shame.  Personally the set didn't do a great for me.  Hearing a steady stream of obscenities covering a wide range of human nature quickly got dull and old.  To be honest today the album's actually more funny than controversial - the revenge theme at the end of 'Frankie and Johnny' was worth a snicker; the country flavored 'F*ck Me Forever' was dumber than dirt, 'In and Out They Go' managed to make group sex sound positively gross, and 'Fingers, Vibrators, Dildoes and Dreams' managed to make the thought of senior age sex horrifying.  'Broken Glass and the Holy Man' would have been a decent rocker  if not for the sophomoric lyrics ('I'm a snake looking for a hole' - c'mon ...).  Similarly 'F*ckin' a Dream' was an okay blues-rocker spoiled by the lyrics.  Weird, but in a bad way ...
