Credited to 'Robin Williamson and His Merry Men', 1977's "Journey's Edge" served as Robin Williamson's second sophomore album (and his first post-Incredible String Band) release (Williamson also found time to pen a spy number during that timeframe).  When I bought the album at a yard sale, I figured I'd get to enjoy a collection of Williamson's ISB-styled folk material, but having played this set dozens of times I'm continually surprised by how diverse it is.  Mind you, tracks such as 'The Tune I Hear So Well', 'Mystic Times' (sporting some killer harmony vocals) and 'Rap City Rhapsody' are exactly what I expected - an enjoyable mix of traditional English folk and more contemporary moves.  It's the rest of the set that knocks me for a loop.  Who would have ever expected to hear something as commercial as 'Lullabye for a Rainy Night', let alone real rock and roll from Williamson (check out 'Red Eye Blues').   Elsewhere the album included a couple cameos from ISB alumnist Likki Lambert (aka Christina 'Licorice' McKechnie)
