Earl Doud started out as a television comedy writer. He's released a series of politically-oriented comedy albums, including "The First Family", "Lyndon Johnson's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and this early 1970s set.
The problem with most political humor is that it has a limited shelf life and 1971's "Spiro T. AGnew Is a Riot" is no exception. With support from the likes of Rich Little and Vincent Price (?), the live set's actually pretty funny - check out the Agnew versus Robert Buckley Jr. verbal confrontation on "The Fight", or the sound effects on "Silent Majority". Unfortunately, former Vice President Spiro Agnew isn't exactly today's hottest topic. Amazingly this set actually managed to chart, peaking at # 185.
