If you recognize the name James Galyon its probably a result of his work with the Virginia-based early-1970s band Mason.  This post-Mason release is somewhat of a mystery to me.  My copy appears to be a demo since it doesn't carry a record company label or any kind of performance information.  Somewhat frustratingly there aren't even song titles (though I've tried to guess at a couple)..

Judging from the smooth AOR sound, "James Gaylon" has a late-1970s feel to it.  Unfortunately anyone looking for "Mason, Part 2" is probably going to be severely disappointed by the results.  Unlike Mason's rock orientation, this time around the focus was on Gaylon' voice which had a fairly commercial orientation that was well suited to the radio-friendly but rather bland AOR material making up the majority of the album.  Without song titles it's kind of hard to provide a real detailed description, though I can tell you the leadoff song is a rather bland cover of The Moody Blues' 'Go Now'.  Rock and psych fans will probably recoil in abject horror, but the side two opener had a vague Caribbean flavor (with some Kenny G-ish flute), while the second track sounded like something from a late-1970s corporate band like Quarterflash.  Perhaps because it sported a touch of progressive flavor (and a super cheesy synthesizer solo), the third track ('Melody') provided one of the few mildly memorable efforts.  In case anyone cares, I found an online reference that indicated 300 copies were pressed.
