I have to tell you that I simply don't understand the point behind an exercise like 1969's "Street Man".. Goldberg was certainly a talented guy, but why bother going through the motions on a rote exercise like this? Instrumental renditions of nine popular hits and one Goldberg original (the instantly forgettable 'Sittin' In Circles'); all basically faithful to the original arrangements ... This is about as close to elevator music as you can get without losing all of your credibility. Why bother? Financial problems? Contract you couldn't get out of?
