Living in Tucaon, Arizona, assist Chris Cacavas, singer/guitarist Dan Stuart and bass player Jack Waterson started their musical collaboration in 1979.  Three years later the group hd expanded to a quartet with the addition of drummer Steve MacNicol and was living and working in Los Angeles.

Produced by Paul Cutler, 1985's "Gas Food Lodging" saw the addition of singer/guitarist Chuck Prophet IV to the lineup.  Prophet was clearly a nice addition to the band's songwriting pool which this time around dropped the paisley underground influences in favor of a distinctive roots-rock feel.  Powered by Stuart's 'wrong-side-of-the-tracks' narratives, tracks such as 'That's What Dreams Are For', ''Hair of the Dog and 'The Drifter' offer up an engaging if frequently disturbing mixture of social commentary and rough hewn rock ...  yeah I know that's a shit*y description.  Imagine The Faces if the woke up as a mid-1980's roots band with a nasty hangover and you'll get a feel for these guys ...
