Lanark Records was one of the nameplates used by the Album Globe/Album World tax scam conglomerate. As you'd expect, there's little or no information available on this outfit, though a couple of performances credits scattered throughout the performances - to my ears it sounded like Jerry Bridges on bass and Steve Sample on drums. Nothing but speculation on my part, but I'm wondering if the singer/keyboard player was Ray Reach.
Creatively 1977's "Save It for a Rainy Day" really didn't have a great deal going for it. The album was clearly recorded live in some small club and to that end House and company were actually quite competent musicians. With the exception of the weird opening choice (a cover of '2001 Theme'), their repertoire of top-40 pop and soul covers wasn't anything special and most folks will have heard this stuff thousands at local bars and clubs hundreds of times. By the same token these guys were never less than professional and on a couple of tracks they actually generated a bit of heat - nice instrumental cover of 'Do It Any Way You Want', a nice version of Del Shannon's 'Runaway', 'You Need a Man' sported some nice twin lead guitar work, and bassist Bridges was great on 'Shakey Ground'. Not that anyone cares, but at least one of the performance credits was wrong - 'Place In the Sun' was actually written by Pablo Cruise members Bud Cockrell and Cory Lerois, rather than Stevie Wonder. ,Also worth mentioning the set sported excellent sound quality for a live performance. Still you had to wonder why anyone would have bothered to release this one were it not for the tax benefits ...
