This is one of those sought after (never available) garage/frat band classics ... For better or worse, it's even listed in famed psych/garage collector Hans Pokora's 1001 Record Collector's Dreams book.

Sporting a line up consisting of singer/drummer Steve Drumheller, keyboardist Aivars Osvalds, brothers Bobby and Steve Pollock (sax and guitar respectively) and Gilbert and Harold Roberts (bass and trumpet respectively), these guys were the quintessential '60s garage band. Based around Charlottesville, Virginia (not Richmond), the band got it's professional start working high school, prep school and local college parties and dances. Signed by the small North Carolina-based Justice Records, their 1967 debut "... On the RIght Track" teamed them with producer Calvin Newton. Musically the set offered up what's pretty standard garage/frat party faire. Backed by horns, the focus was on popular pop and soul covers such as "Midnight Hour", "Double Shot" and "Shotgun". At least one reviewer's deemed the album unlistenable, but to our ears their ragged, haphazard performances are a big part of the charm. Check out their lumbering cover of "Summertime" and the more-enthusiasm-than-talent cover of Eddie Floyd's "Knock On Wood". Personal favorite is Steve Pollock's what's-the-next-note guitar solo on "Hold On". That said, the set's highlights came from the pair of band originals "Have You Ever" and "Just for Kicks". Okay, looking at the back cover photo, which ones were brothers ? To be fair, we'll tell you that in 1995 Collectables reissued the set in CD format (catalog number COL-CD-0608).
