I don't usually buy disco material and I don't usually buy 12" singles, but how can you turn down a 12" picture sleeve entitled "Disco Wedding" ...  ya' can't get much more '70s than that !!!

There's plenty of material on the web about Jabara, so I won't waste time rehashing existing biographical information.  Both Wikipedia and a Jabara site (shown below) are good sources for anyone wanting an overview of his career.  Anyhow, this 12" was pulled from Jabara's third album - 1979's cleverly titled "Third Album" which was itself apparently intended as a disco concept piece (that thought makes me smile).   I can't say I'm a big disco fan, but I'm told this track has a big fan base.  To my ears the medley's pretty pedestrian.  The 'DIsco Wedding' part sounded like it was assembled from a 'build-hit-kit' with scratchy lead guitar, female backing singers, punchy T.K.-styled horns, and a cute, but mindless lyric.  Jabara had a decent enough voice, but there wasn't much of his voice on display.  The 'Honeymoon In Puerto Rico' segment was actually a stronger composition with an semi-exotic feel - the accents sounded a bit over-the-top, but then this was prime '70s camp.

"Disco Wedding" track listing:

Only 44, sadly Jabara died of AIDS in September 1992.  For you hardcore fans, there's an extensive Jabara website at:
