Though he's largely forgotten today, Enoch Light was quite a talented guy. He started out in the mid-'30s as a band leader, recording and touring the States and Europe as Enoch Light and the Light Brigade. By the mid-'50s Light's interests had migrated to the production and business sides of the house. He formed Command Records and leaping at the opportunities provided by the advent of stereo technology, recorded a string of big selling instrumental sets (you've seen
thousands of these babies in thrift stores - "Persuasive Percussion", as well as
throwaway soundtracks and classical sets). He also formed the Project Three label, using it as a base for less
commercial experiments such as The Free Design. 1.) Bond Street
(instrumental) (Burt Bacharach) - 2:38
7.) A Little Fugue For You and Me
(instrumental) (D. Lieb adapted from J.S. Bach) - 2:48
noch Light & The Light Brigade - Spaced Out The full title of this 1969 release reads: Enoch Light presents Spaced Out, exploratory trips through the music of Bach, Bacharach, and The Beatles, integrating the Moog, the Guitar Scene, Electric Harpsichords, Flugelhorns, My LP also has an orange sticker claiming this to be "The First New Concept since the Percussion Era". This is a superb moog drenched Project 3 LP from the spund master Enoch Ligt and his Light Brigade. I just love the 60's psychedlia of this album in both is creative front and back cover as well as trippy stereophonic sound. You cant help but look at this cover and not think of Barbarella...although this one here is wearing a tin foil bikini.......omg Musically this is an awesome album with tons of vocal harmonies and cool instrumentation and orchestration throughout. The sound as with all of Project 3 vinyl pressings is audiophile with great clarity and carefull mastering. This album is the trippiest thing I have ever heard from Enoch Light. In this 1969 album, Enoch Light explored the new age of Supersound. The result, we think, is a total in-put of spectacular stereo reproduction. You will hear all musical and electro-musical discoveries that skyrocketed stereo into a new, exciting dynamic direction: Far out and Light years away. This Spaced Out record spearheads the entire sound spectrum. With side trips into some turned-on tonal zones. Like the mind-bending moog, electric harpsichords and flipped out flugelhorns, recorded with the most advanced electronic instruments, and with an orchestra composed of New York’s leading studio musicians. The songs are all established hits, adapted by arranger Dick Lieb and covering a period of over 250 years: From Bach to Bacharach and The Beatles. As for Charge! recorded in 1972, it features the propulsive, rhythmic beat of Jeff Hest and his completely original approach to the mix for the final master tape. All the songs are giant pop hits, built through the isolation and combination of instruments in different, exciting patterns, to give you a fantastically thrilling listening experience. Lift off!
