Singer/guitarist Peter Black, guitarist Jimmy Frost, bassist James Harrell and drummer Steve Webb first came together as the Houston, Texas-based Misfits (see separate entry). Hired as the house band for the Houston Living Eye Club, 1967 found the band opting for a quick name change - The Lost and Found apparently considered a far hipper nomenclature ... The residency brought the band into contact with 13th Floor Elevator front man Roky Erickson, who helped the group sign with Lelan Rogers' Houston-based International Artists label. (Having previously been busted on LSD charges, the quartet reportedly signed with IA in part due to the fact the label offered to hire a lawyer to help fight the drug charges.)

Teamed with producer Rogers, 1967's "Everybody's Here" was an interesting slice of mid-1960s Texas psychedelia. Baring more than a passing resemblance to The 13th Floor Elevators (the album included a cover of 'Don't Fall Down'), material such as 'Forever Lasting Plastic Words', 'There Would Be No Doubt' and 'Stroke Blues' offered up a series of compacted, but trippy numbers. The absence of a strong lead singer didn't help the proceedings, but since two bluesy instrumentals 'Zig Zag Blues' (dedicated to the founder of Zig Zag magazine) and 'Living Eye' (dedicated to Houston's Living Eye Teen Club) were among the stronger compositions, it wasn't a major issue. Still, given all the hype around the album, the overall sense was one of disappointment. (I've always loved the rambling rear sleeve explanation of the cover art: "I have animated the experiences as related by the selections insides ..." .)
