This short-lived 1970s Pennsylvania-based outfit probably wouldn't have attracted a great deal of attention were it not for the fact noted record collector/dealer Hans Pokora included their album in one of his books on rare albums.
Released by the
small Baldwin Record label, 1977's "Moonstone" isn't
bad, but it isn't anything spectacular. Largely written by lead
guitarist Dale Kaylor, at least to my ears, musically the set sounds a
little bit like Kansas at their most commercial. That clearly won't
appeal to everyone out there, but tracks such 'Depend On Me', 'Who's In Command'
and '' are tuneful and modestly enjoyable. Similarly, the playing is
all first rate, but it all sounds a little calculated and wooden.
Guess I'll set this one aside and give another couple of spins
later. 1.) Prelude - I Wouldn't Lie (Dale Kaylor - Moonstone) - 5:21 2.) Depend On Me (Dale Kaylor) - 6:30 3.) Who's In Command (Dale Kaylor) - 4:50
(side
2) 2.) One of Those Days (Dale Kaylor) - 5:10 3.) Stay (Dale Kaylor) - 5:10 4.) Can't Take the Chance (P. Aller - Dale Kaylor) - 3:41
