Produced by Peter Siegel, much of 1968's "Morning Again" offered up a typical set of acoustic folk material.  Featuring ten Tom Paxton originals, the set showcased a rather standard mixture of personnel, social and political commentary.  While tracks like 'Victoria Dines Alone, 'The Hooker' and 'Talking Vietnam Pot Luck Blues' may have been cutting edge in 1968, much of it sounds somewhat dated four decades down the road.  That said, the album also marked a major change in Tom Paxton's catalog - namely the introduction of an out and out rock element into the mix (so what if he was three years behind Dylan and some of his compatriots).  While the rock element was somewhat tentative (you won't mistake any of this for Iron Butterfly), the results were actually quite enjoyable.  Paxton's likeable voice was actually well suited for tougher rock arrangements like 'Clarissa Jones'.  That quality wasn't wasted on the band Clear Light who turned in a killer version of 'Mr. Blue'.  Unfortunately Paxton never pursued the direction.
