Yes, I'll readily admit that I'm a pushover for Hendrix-influenced outfits (Purple Fox, Velvert Turner, etc.).  Guess than makes it pretty easy to figure out how this album joined my collection ...

Musically and sonically 1988's "Tribute To Jimi Hendrix" isn't much to get excited about.  Featuring the talents of singer/guitarist Bill Baker and brothers  John and Ron Holswade (bass and drums respectively), the album title gives you a pretty good overview of its contents - in this case the trio working their way through eight of Hendrix's better know tunes.  Baker and the Holeswades aren't half bad.  They certainly have their Hendrix moves down pat.  The only problem is that outside of a club setting there isn't a great deal to be said for their efforts.  Since they don't bring anything original to the table and their covers are true to the originals, why not just slap a Hendrix album on?  I will say that the album has some excellent sound quality - far above what you'd normally expect from a vanity project.  It's quite impressive with a good pair of headphones and a Belgian beer in your hands.
