By the late-'60s the band had relocated to the
States where they were signed by Vanguard. Teamed with producer Geoff
Turner, by the time their 1970 debut "Costumed
Cuties" hit the streets the band seems to have
effectively been reduced to a duo consisting of Lenox and Keider (the two
names prominently featured in the liner notes). Largely penned by Lenox
(Gordon contributing one selection), musically the set wasn't bad. Keyboard
dominated rockers, Lenox had a decent voice that was well suited for
material such as "Oink Oink", "Dreams and Realities" and
the title track. On the other hand, with the exception of the atypical freak
out closer "Road Race", none of the 12 tracks was particularly
distinguished, or memorable. One reviewer's compared these guys to ARS.
Personally I don't hear it. Imagine a duller version of Procol Harum with
occasional pseudo-jazz breaks ("Hasting's Worth Resolved ") and
you'll get a better feel for the results ... Greeted with complete critical
and commercial indifference, the set vanished without a trace; followed in
short order by the band. (side
